SPS Springerville – /Zuni Basin-Moreno Hill Fieldwork April 26-27 2025

On April 26-27, SPS will be exploring the Zuni basin to see if we can find more dino and turtle fossils, and check out some fossils Douglas Wolfe has recently found in that area (including a Dino foot!).

We will not be collecting, mostly prospecting. You also need a vehicle capable of driving about 60 miles on dirt roads (mostly decent dirt roads but there can be surprises)

You will need to make reservations at some local hotel in Springerville or in the nearby areas. There is also camping at Lyman Lake and other places. This trip will be limited to about 15 folks. We are looking for volunteers who already have a level of field experience, but if you are interested and in good health (like a 5 mile backpacking trip is no problem) go ahead and sign up and we’ll try to accommodate. No one under 12 years of age please.
